About Japalouppe!

Japalouppe Equestrian Centre was founded back in 1999 by Lorraine More and her son Rohan with an aim to teach horse riding in a friendly, safe and gentle learning environment. They felt that most riding schools focused too much on their intermediate and advanced riders and competition riding rather than introducing young beginners to the world of horses and riding. They also felt that along with horse riding, riders also needed to learn to look after their horses. Conducting residential horse riding camps for children during vacations was the perfect way to bring about this synthesis.

From that point onwards, there was no looking back. Over the past 11 years, Japalouppe has grown exponentially. Till date we have hosted over 3000 campers and taught countless more on regular riding days. Some of our earlier campers have grown up as a part of the Japalouppe family. They have come a full circle, and today, work with us as instructors.

Residential Horse Riding Camps
Horse Riding Camps are held every year during Summer, Diwali and Christmas vacations. Most of our camps are for children between the ages of 7 to 17. We’ve started camps for adults, on demand from parents who complained that they were missing out on all the fun. Anyone who wants to stay at Japalouppe can also book our cottages, tents or dormitories.

During each camp, up to 50 students stay at Japalouppe. Our campers learn to ride, groom and feed horses and participate in the daily farm routine.  Its not all work though…  The campers have a blast riding, playing a variety of games (on or off horseback), participating in group activities, trekking or simply splashing around in the pond. For more details please visit the Camps section.

Safety
We believe more in pro-active safety rather than reactive safety. All our horses are specially schooled to respond to beginners. At Japalouppe, we are very safety-conscious and have an excellent safety record. Rohan is trained in trauma and life-support and advanced first aid from the St.John’s Ambulance Service in Canada.

Beginner Friendly
What makes Japalouppe truly different from other riding schools is our beginner-friendly teaching method.  We believe in allowing each rider to grow at his or her own pace. For us, developing the right attitude and sensitivity towards horses in our riders is as necessary as learning the physical skills needed to be a good rider.
